It was suggested by Warren that I display the steps I took to remove thr inner sleeve of my viper mast. I was informed that the general feeling is that it is to hard to remove.

1. The inner sleeve is 13 feet long and is just past the spreaders.
2. Remove all rivets and hardware.
3. Cut off a small section of the mast to expose the inner sleeve. Careful not to cut into the inner sleeve, it may snap off when tugging it out.
4. Cut a hole large enough to hook into.
5. Pour lubricating oil through all hole openings and rotate the mast to allow the oil to get between the sleeve and mast.
Leave mast as is overnight.
6. Lay on flat surface and secure ends to a solid wall or post.
7. Use a rubber hammer to tap mast up and down. Tug until there is tension, stop and tap with hammer. Repeat procedure.
8. Eventually the sleeve comes out. I heard a "pop" sound when it was free.
The inner sleeve was 13 feet long and weighted roughly one pound per foot.

.......^^...excellent work Marino, I'm sure it wasn't easy but thanks for showing it can be done!

...it looks like I'm shipping off a Viper mast,, wondering how much, where to shorten the mast?

I assume most all of the cut is at the bottom.. post 7 mentions removing 6-10'' for keel stepped at bunk height,, can someone confirm??

It'll be great to reduce length as much as possible before taking it across the border on my minivan :?
. ....or maybe I'll use some of that monster sleeve and make a 2 piece mast! :D

Need advice: have a dolphin boom( 2 1/4 x 3) and a viper mast. Doing a double spreader system. Inner tube has been removed. Is this combo good or bad.
