Sail Markings: Class Insignia, Sail Number, National Letter

Postby lohwaikin » Mon Jul 14, 2014 11:02 am

I cannot recall if this topic was ever discussed, but it would great if I can get some dimensions on the font size of class insignia, sail number and national letters.
The font type of sail number and national letter.
I believe sail number equals to hull number ???
The position of all 3 information on the main-sail.
If the jib needs to be similarly marked.

Thanks!

There is no rule for our Class, nor any in the RRS/ERS. Your local rating authority may have some rules, though. A safe bet is to use letters that are close in size to a similar sized boat. Here's the Star class rules on letter sizes:

Hi guys,

May I know what's height of your "i550" marking on the main sail?
I just bought a 1m X 1.4m of adhesive-backed blue Dacron film, with the intent of cutting out the "i550" marking myself.
For country and sail number markings, I bought off-the-shelf 12" tall alphabets and digits used on Laser SB3s...

Cheers,

The attached photo shows the placement of my class logo and numbers. With the see-through sails unfortunately you get them both forward and backward.

Your boat looks great
