Just doing the maintenance for the race--
replaced the nuts on the top of the keel,
put some c/f around a couple of the mast head fittings that I am a bit iffy about,
new rubber around the top of the keel box to keep the water out,
soaked a couple of the sheets in soft water to get the salt out of them,
put on the racing bow numbers,
*take Shazza out Sunday with one of the crew for a test/check sail

We will be racing 4 up on the 14th
-helm
-main sheet/kite
-Kite/Jib
-drinks man
* We will be rotating to give all a rest, three of us with experience on Shazza, one newbie/virgin to sailing.

Best of luck to you Shazza! Sat.(tomorrow) I'm doing a 33 mile (53km) race around the Coronado Is. on the Olson 30. Heavy swell (barf time!) and a wet ride!

Go the Shazza!

Thanks guys. I hope you don't have too sore a bum after your race Rocky. Our test sail went very well today and we are looking forward to next weekend. We will (I will) try not to remember last year---

Ran out of wind 10 miles from the finish, called it quits and motored in with the little 2 horse screaming, finally got the boat put away and headed home about 1:30am. Despite feeding the fish and freezing my wahoo off, I had fun, got to drive the boat for a while and passed our main competitor using my great skills! good training for when I finally get my crate finished!

Oh my God 50nm +- is a long way when going to windward for over 2/3 of the distance and then a very tight reach at the end.
To be precise it took us 11 hours 20 minutes and I think we came in dead last. On the other hand, it was unfinished business for me from last year and the crew and I had a sense of satisfaction when we did finish as we had suck with it and completed the race. We did see other boats motor past us late in the day as they had given up on completing the race.

Good job Josh and crew, sounds like it was a hard one to finish. Go the Shazza!
