Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge 2017

Any of you East-coasters up for this?

I know Mist and I have talked about it. I think my boat will be back on the water by then. If we go, we are going to SUCK. We were pretty bad with sail-handling and boatspeed last year. I'm looking at this as more fun than trophy-fest.

I haven't been to Screwpile for a few years, used to do it every year on my boat and then mostly O.P.B.s. But it is a really fun event, in an enjoyable western shore location.

So think about it!

Yup! I'm going. TF, it should be fun to watch each other. I have many calamities on my boat too. I'm in it for the fun. Looking forward to it! -Tim

I can't remember, did you get a PHRF cert? I have one from 2 years ago but have not renewed....guess I'll have to. (PHRF Ches VRTG = 144)

No, I don't have a cert yet. That's one of the things I need today do. I'm pretty bogged down right now. BTW, I'm about to close on purchase of a property with a 40'x80' foot metal building. I figure to repair/restore boats part time until I retire in 2020. Once retired I'll pickup the pace to bigger projects.

Tim, I have to bail on SPLC this year...my workload has been through the roof, the weather has been too chilly and inconsistent to do any glass work, and Bermuda is going to take 3 weekends out of my dwindling supply between now and mid-July.

Trying to get my guys psyched about Sunfish CHallenge though!

Regrets, --TF

Probably just as well we bailed on SPLC this year....participation was terrible, just 31 boats and 15 in Cruising Class. Next year might even be worse. They should never have split the feeder race from the event.

Going to try! Depends on boat status. I have two crew who are busting my chops to get it done in time. Problem lies in some family health issues and my work sked. I wanted to glue in new keelbox delrins and close up the box yesterday, but an aging relative had us at the ER/trauma center for most of the day. Plus the continuing onslaught of thunderstorm after thunderstorm....doesn't help much either.

If we can get the boat sailing by mid August, we'll be there. Bit of big "IF" though....
