Publicity - Post it if you got it

Postby Tim Ford » Sat Apr 09, 2011 3:09 pm

I know some people have gotten some ink lately, such as Tim K's "Mist" project in SpinSheet. (SpinSheet is the Ches Bay's monthly publication devoted to sailing and performance sailing...has a massive circ.)

Terry Boram got this published in our on-line alternative daily (alternative to our local party-affiliate, the Baltimore Sun, a once proud paper now just basically a stenographer service for Maryland's ultra-corrupt political class, but I digress...) The Examiner

http://www.examiner.com/sailing-in-balt ... s-progress

It would be really slick if you can suck-up to whomever you know locally in the 4th estate to get some exposure in ink or pixels for the boats. In this case I had to sacrifice a valuable Saturday (next weekend) to go and sail a Weta at a Weta demonstration in Naptown. Damn, I hate that.

Follow Builders,

I can't believe how much attention this little boat receives. The three publications all started from a small announcement in the 'Southern Bay News You Can Use' newsletter.

Tim F sorry for the delay in this post. I just noticed the post today.

No worries, you were just a few hours after I posted the topic. I like the blurb in Scuttlebutt, a nice personal perspective and what it means to have someone supportive and understanding in the homefront. As long as I don't glue shut the fridge door or get CF particles in the sheets, everyone seems OK with the build here.

I mean, heck...after three years I reckon they are used to it! :D

Nice little article on the Hot Canary boat in the latest issue of Small Craft Advisor. A bit on the build and mods they made for the challenge.

I was just coming on here to get someone to post a new shot on the SA thread...the boat has fallen out of the first 25, that is, the first page as I see it. I would, but I dont have much news...been crazy nuts with kids and obligations aroun' my house this June, so far.

Might want to remove the KEEL STUCK post on your blog....it's sort of not what the average prospective buyer wants to ponder, third thing into your blogg! Although you do get props for honesty in advertising. ;)

Hey if I send you a cashier's cheque for $25,000....can you send me the change?

heck there are at least six kinds of J24's...lessee, there's white ones and blue ones and I once saw a red one. There's multicolored ones and black ones and I know of at least one yellow one! So, ya see?

wHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A J-109 AND A J-120? They're both j boats, right? When I read the instructions written by cb in the front of the plans set, he said that a no cabin boat should have a definate advantage over the cabin boats. Although I admit that I'm a better sailor than most of you, and would probably win anyway!

I think that yellow and white with strips might have an advantage. I've heard it's faster!! :)

Speaking of publicity, the i550 has, sadly, fallen from the first 25 threads on SA's sportboat anarchy.
Somebody post something to bump it up!
