Where ya From?

Postby slowpoke » Mon Feb 11, 2013 7:08 am

So where [i]are[i] you from? I was curious if there was anyone near me that was a member, but it seems nobody cares to make note of where they live on their profiles. Could you all please do this, so I know how far I have to drive to meet another builder?

Thanks,
Rocky 8-)

We have someone who recently registered for the Forum from San Diego...is that close enough?

the rigorous Privacy statutes incorporated into the i550 By-Laws :P
prevent me from outing the member but perhaps he or she will chime in...ya neveh know.

Personally, I hail from Elaine Benes'es home town, Towson MD, but I was never born there.

Jon,
No build or hull number yet. Just reading a lot and hopefully a build comes in the near future.

Geoff.

Hi Geoff, nice to see another i550 fan up north. I know Canada's a big country, but are you near any of the other builds/boats up there?

I hope sooner than later that there will be a lot of i550 action up here in the Great White North. I am about an hour and a half from Toronto and two and a half hours from Quebec, and about two hours from New York State. I am in a great location.

Hello All,
Éric,
French lost in Hong Kong, where I sailed a J24.
Boat sold, want another one, and considering the I550 as an option.
Now try to learn from here before to make up my mind,
Cheers,
Éric

Just bought a set of plans. Sail #513. Looking forward to the build and will rely heavily on past solutions to the future problems I am sure to encounter.

I presently hail from Chambly Quebec, but have lived in locations across Canada starting in Manitoba

We have a summe place in upstate New York and will sail on Lake Champlain.

I have a Mistral 16 (wayfarer clone) that I actively sail now but am looking forward to sailing the i550 (yet to be christened!)

Regards

Marko, Slovenia, Europe. Closest sea i have is on the other side of my country, about 250km :)

Bought plans second hand from a friend in Croatia, i dont have a hull number, but i consider it a "sister ship" of a hull 272.

About a month or so to finish the boat, i hope someone will lend me heated space to work in autumn, otherwise it will be done in june next year.

A few i550's blasting across Lake Champlain would be quite a sight indeed. Sourcing plywood...

Cheers!

I ordered my ply from Noah's Marine. Good prices at the time don't know how they are now. Worth a look though.

Hey Guys,

I'm New to the i550 forum. Im from the South Eastern Connecticut- New london-Groton Area. I am hoping to build my very own i550. Kinda nervous and excited about it but! In Matter of fact its my first build ever. At the same time being a dad I'm trying to get my 6yr old step-son involved in sailing. My sailing background consists of foiling moth, Farr 395, J27 and Arc 30. its kinda all over the place.

Cheers,
Eriel

Welcome Eriel!

It's always good to see another east coaster on this board. I'm in Baltimore and while there are a ton of hull licenses existing between NYC and Boston, there are not too many boats either in build stage or on the water. I do not know what happened to hull#8 which was in Charleston RI, but I think Noel is pretty far along with his project in New Bedford MA. Also, Craig moved his project down from Lake Champlain to Newport, as far as I know. He was pretty far along.

Anyway, thanks for signing up!

Orangeville, Ontario, 'bout an hour north of Toronto. Boat is "in build" hull panels, bulkheads in, bunk supports in, with this cold weather I am focused on cutting our bunks, cabin top, and decks (rough cut). No gluing too cold. Next week ripping stock for foils and clamp rails etc.
