Hello from the PNW

Postby lepoochrwk » Wed Jan 02, 2019 6:01 pm

While still on the fence, the i550 is singing a siren song to me and this forum is stunning. Y'all have conspired to build a wealth of information.

I hail from a family of sailors and boat builders. An early example would be Lightning #204. Yep, you read that right. I retired a couple years ago and have been stewing over what to buy/build. One never really gets over a love of cracking hot dinghies, but I am somewhat rational and appreciate that trying to hang my wife off a trapeze might not turn out well.

So thanks for having me and kudos to all who have contributed to this resource!

Hey, thanks for joining us, Dick!

I'm sure you're aware of the PNW fleet of i550s in/near Portland. I think 5 of them are still sailing. Some may have been sold and moved to another region.

Be sure to check out the "What Not to Do" (or whatever it's called) thread.

Let me know if you want contact info for some of the i550 owners/builders in the PNW.

Actually, I went and re-read it one more time. Some funny stuff in there.

I think I can add a thing or two over the past few years of sailing the boat, too...so little time, soooo many ways to screw up  :D
