I remember a lot of guys in the marina I used to be in were able to put their boats on their homeowner's policy as long as they were under 26 feet. Got NO idea why that number was chosen. I always figured the insurance was to pay for the damage to the other guy's boat. Strictly a liability issue (including hazardous material spills, something we don't have to worry too much about!)

Out here on the west coast there seems to be "issues" when trying to insure a "wood" boat.

..maybe it's different for you,-living- in mexico,,,but certainly it's been VERY difficult for me to get anything but 'on the trailer' insurance for travelling there.

Did Ben give you the name of the company he insured through? And you might have to specify that it is a fiberglass boat; remember, the wood is just the "core", much like a balsa, cork, or foam cored fiberglass boat.

I don't know if it helps you guys much, but Andrew (TTB) gave us a good tip when we went to insure Shazza-- she is Not a timber hull------It is a Fibreglass composite hull. That made the difference between getting insurance here and not getting it, it was all in how you expressed the truth.

My one hope is for a much milder year (or at least winter) weather-wise and a hell of a lot less doctor visits in 2012

Let's have 2012 be a year when the boats have some presence in and around our local venues and for those of you who are approaching a launch date, put down the remote and GET STICKY!

I just finished putting up Hoop House V.2 and I'm also in the basement building hatches and stuff that cannot be done outside until I make arrangements for the wood stove going into Hoop House V.2.
