You mean someone actually reads the captions I type up to amuse myself when changing the picture of the week.

Cool. :-)

I hope I get a kite to look that old some day. That would mean that I actually have been using it.

We actually have some new patched places since it landed here in the states. Those have never been used so that part is new. ;)

I thought Andrew threw it in the dryer with his Edward Scissorhands costume!

I was down at the local lake last weekend, thinking "40 degrees out, 10 knots, sunny, DANG why aren't I out there?!?" Need to save my pennies for a drysuit, I suppose.

My ramp is completely closed from 11/1 to 4/30. And with water temps below 40 degrees I don't want to find myself in that water with or without a drysuit. If you go in, you have minutes at most. The lucky ones are wearing pfd's and live long enough to catch hypothermia.

Drysuit costs more than a jib. Next year, maybe...

Our lake was frozen over a couple weeks ago, only about 1.5" of ice, but you could skip a stone all the way across the narrow part. Daughter was impressed.

I bought slam gear for the cold days. The stuff works good down to 40 easy with fleece on under it. Neoprene seals at the ankles, waist, cuffs and neck will keep you dry in a quick dunking. And the setup is more flexible for the vastly different conditions we get around here. And I ALWAYS wear a pfd when the water temp is below 55 degree F. There is very little to hold onto when you are at the back corner and the boat does something unexpected.

I fell in while out sailing with some new crew (including Nik, who I think you know), and the water was low fifties -no special gear on. I was in for about 5 minutes, doing ok, but by the time I got out I was worthless. No muscle control, shaking, etc.

Worst part was the Coast Guard Auxiliary was out "patrolling" and came between me and the boat to rescue me, and wrote it up in their newsletter, which my uncle saw, and mentioned (in front of my wife) at a family dinner.

I fell in after a tack that kept going, a line was fowled on the tiller as I recall. When the boat gybed I found myself on the low side without my foot in a strap and my momentum took be right over.

The irony comes in that my wife was shooting pictures of the boat from shore through out the event including the rescue and didn't realize I had any problem. Lost sun glasses was the evidence of by the time we got back to shore after sailing for another hour or so.

As for the 100 pictures that happened in between, well they are all really fuzzy ;-)
