Got it. I've already glassed the cockpit floor and don't want to add anything that will soak up water over the glass. I'll try the plastic spacers first, and check to see if I get track distortion/movement, or if they wear the deck under them through friction. I have the G10 from some other project so that's plan B. I'm thinking of launching the boat with just primer on the deck, so these decisions/changes are less painful.

Plastic spacers seem like the way to go to me as they won't be in compression other than from the screw pressure you apply. Then you just need some sealant on the threads when you install the track to keep everything happy.

On the paint, just put on a quick coat and be done with it. After a couple years of sailing and changing things I'd possibly consider going back and cleaning up the deck. I can still see right through my kiwi grip and it's not as grippy as I want. But I'd rather spend 80 bucks on some zhik shoes then worry about that right now.
