Hull #437 is working on the shroud lengths currently.
I've got the forestay and lowers right the first time.
To be really conservative I put one toggle-type M6 turnbuckle on each end of every wire.
That'll give me 6" of adjustment, though it would be almost impossible to adjust the upper turnbuckles with the mast up.

The picture shows the mast temporarily up for the purpose of finalizing the lengths of uppers and caps.
With spreaders and halyards and boom fitted, the entire assembly weighs about 30 kg (66 lbs).
It took 2 persons to step and raise the mast assembly, and rather precariously.
The mast assembly has since been lowered, in order for the cap and upper shrouds be removed to send for terminating the other ends.

Shroud lengths finalized. Currently tensioned to roughly 300# per line (approximated by deflection force rather by tension gage) . Not much pre-bend seen from the wooden mast (Luckily I have yet to cut the sail cloth....).

Working on terminating the mast lights to switch box.
That's mandatory for boat inspection.

Working outdoor under the sun in a mozzie-infested boat-yard is no fun. Soldering a simple 4-pin plug took 1.5 hours. It would have taken no more than 20 minutes to get done in a sheltered workshop with AC power. While the boat was still in the workshop I don't feel that way. That's the price to pay for procrastination, I'm learning.

Good call, Chad. In fact, the top section of the mast has been removed and folded back and taped to the middle section in the photo. So it's about 19 or 20 feet long instead of 25. I'll probably put it back together when sailing though.

Nice,, Rocky,,, progress is a good thing. Couple of questions. What primer did you end up using?/ what paint will you use?. Is the topside also done?. what length of longboard did you use?. is your bowsprit going to be on deck?

You know you need to glue in that top section right. The splice tube is not long enough to take the loads over the long haul. Use some more of that g-flex.

Just passed boat inspection on Monday.
Still short of a main sail....
And some anti-fouling paint to handle the weekend mooring on the water.

Looks great, Loh, congrats on passing the stability test. Was that just for your own piece of mind? Or is that something you needed being done for insurance or some other official clearnace?

As for the Lifering, orange is fast and it could make a nice butt cushion in heavy air!

Are you going to attach blocks to the aft horn cleats to use for spinnaker turning blocks?

Outstanding! Congratulations on finishing your build.

Some people put the throwable life preserver (on the deck) under bungies between the aft foot bensons. Yours looks a bit large for that.

Well, in compliance with SIngapore's pleasure craft rules, the mounting of that mere 2.5hp outboard subjects this i550 to powerboat rules, which includes the following safety equipment:
1) fire bucket
2) fire extinguisher
3) 6 distress flares
4) a standard 28" OD SOLAS-approved life-buoy for every 4 person
5) Anchor with rode
6) horn
7) life-vests
8) nav lights
9) harbour transponder (AIS class B)
10) oar(s)

And yes, Tim, I intend to lash the spinnaker sheet blocks to the aft horn cleats.
Has anybody tried going out there with just the jib sail?
I'm planning to float the boat first to determine the waterline.

Jib-only works, and is a fun lesson in "speed before point", to say the least. Don't try to tack without speed, don't sheet in or point until you have speed, and then slowly squeeze on more sheet and point. Plan maneuvers accordingly.

With all the ballast, errr, gear aboard, you can make the boat sit on any waterline you want?

Everything in my garage is pink from overspray, but I am happy to say that my build-er, boat, is now a bright, shiny red! First coat of color is on. A few drips to sand and re-paint, and another coat to go!
