Bensons

Postby mmarkomarko » Sun Aug 27, 2017 11:49 am

Another noob question from me (:

I noticed that vx-one has a single benson running down the middle which seems to leave the cockpit floor cleaner to walk around when not in full on sailing mode. Do you guys think this might work on i550? Nobody seems to have gone along this route - why?

VX-one is a narrower boat. A centerline benson would be out of reach in an I-550. Sit on your side deck with feet inboard to decide where to put your own bensons. Position to suit your leg length.

Thought this might be the case - thanks Warren!

Funny you should mention this. Yesterday I was finishing up work on my new keel box and someone stopped by to look at the boat (this was on the dock at my club). He mentioned how clever it was that I moved the bensons farther outboard with the 2nd (aft-most) set. I said, "I did???...hmmm....not sure that was intentional!"

But Warren is right, unless you and your crew are all 7 footers!
