Mast pre-bend

Postby Warren Nethercote » Thu Sep 28, 2017 9:29 pm

I know the information is buried somewhere else, but .....

I am a long way from stepping a rig but am talking to my local sail maker about ordering sails - at least the fore and aft variety - over the winter to take advantage of 'boat show' pricing. I have my spars so I can specify E, I, J and P, but my sail maker will want to know about pre-bend for the mainsail. What amount of pre-bend have the experience users been setting? Chad, Jon, etc ....

Hi Warren,
Here's a shot of my main. I usually run 3-5" of prebend -probably closer to 3" in this pic on a very light day.

FYI, on Facebook Jon said 3 to 5 inches and Dave Moran (PDX) said his North guy recommended 4 1/2 inches as a medium setting. Both have C-Tech spars, as does Chad.
